BLOG

If you’ve ever wondered what really goes on behind the scenes of an interior design project, you’re not alone. Many people think it’s just about picking paint colors and furniture — but there’s a lot more to it! Here’s a simple breakdown of what’s included when you hire an interior designer, from the first chat to the final handover.
1. First Meeting – Getting Started
The process begins with a casual consultation. This is where we get to know you — your style, your needs, your lifestyle, and what you want your space to feel like. It’s all about understanding your vision before jumping into ideas.
2. Design Ideas – Mood Boards & Layouts
Once we know what you’re looking for, we start creating a concept. This includes:
- Mood boards (a visual style guide)
- Basic layout plans to show how the space can be arranged
This helps you see the direction your space is heading — and yes, there’s room for feedback and changes!
3. Detailed Design – Making It Real
Next, we go deeper into the details:
- 2D and 3D drawings so you can actually picture your new space
- Decisions on materials, colors, lighting, and finishes
This is when your future home or office really starts to take shape on paper (or screen).
4. Prepping for Build – Drawings & Selections
Before anything can be built, we need clear instructions for the contractors. We’ll prepare:
- Technical drawings for tendering
- Lists of selected furniture, finishes, and fixtures
This part makes sure everything is ready for the next step — building
5. During the Build – Coordination & Check-Ins
As work begins, we stay involved by:
- Coordinating with your contractors and suppliers
- Visiting the site to make sure the design is being followed
👉 Note: We’re here to guide and coordinate, but actual construction supervision is handled by the contractor.
6. Final Touches – Checking Before Handover
Near the end of the project, we:
- Check for any defects
- Issue the practical completion certificate to confirm the work is done
Once everything’s sorted, it’s time to enjoy your new space!
What’s Not Included: Decorating & Styling
Things like throw pillows, curtains, artwork, and styling accessories? That’s not part of interior design — that’s called interior decorating. We’re happy to guide you, but it’s a separate service.
Final Thoughts
Interior design isn’t just about making things look good — it’s about planning, organizing, and bringing a space together thoughtfully. Whether it’s a home, office, or retail space, having a professional designer means the process is smoother, the results are better, and your space feels just right.
